The Wimberley AP-640 Replacement Low Foot for Sony 400-800mm f/6.3-8 G OSS Lens
The AP-640 Replacement Foot is custom designed for the Sony 400-800mm f/6.3-8 G OSS lens.
Here are the reasons that it is the best option:
1. At only 3.75 ounces, it is 42% lighter than the original lens foot with the (previously recommended) Wimberley P-20 plate. When you are hand holding, every ounce matters.
2. The AP-640 has a 3/8” lower profile than the original lens foot with the (previously recommended) Wimberley P-20 plate. This makes it ideal when using a Levered-clamp FlexShooter Pro.
3. It is somewhat stiffer than the original lens foot/lens plate combination thus slightly reducing flex and vibration.
4. The length and design of the AP-640 allows for perfect balance even when a 1.4X TC is added. Be sure to move the replacement foot forward or back in the clamp to achieve perfect balance.
5. It functions as the Arca-Swiss style lens plate.
Note: All Wimberley lens plates are compatible with Arca-Swiss style quick-release clamps.
